Flybig to fly twice weekly from Delhi to Shillong on 2nd May, strengthens connectivity to North East
flybig, India’s newest airline, rapidly expands its network into Tier II and Tier III cities. It has generated a new niche group of air commuters who are transitioning from train to air travel, with airfares being priced at the same price levels as AC 2 Class train tickets.
On May 2, 2022, flybig will begin service between Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi and Shillong International Airport in Meghalaya. flybig flights will also be available from Shillong International Airport to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, making it a to-and-fro flight service connecting Meghalaya and the nation’s capital.
Speaking on this growth and route expansion, CMD flybig Captain Sanjay Mandavia said, “I am pleased to announce that flybig would be operating direct flights from Delhi to Shillong, which will increase our airline’s footprint through the pan North-East region. The commencement of the twice a week flights between Delhi and Shillong, I am confident that this new connectivity option will not only provide greater ease of access to the rest of India but also meet the long-standing expectation of the people of Meghalaya for an airline service that enables faster and more regular connectivity with the rest of India.”
On the Delhi – Shillong aviation route, flybig will use the much acclaimed and very popular long-range regional aircraft – the Q 400 manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace /De Havilland Canada. The Bombardier Q-400 is reputed to be one of the world’s most quiet turbojet aircraft and consumes 30% less fuel than other turboprops.
flybig will be offering a travel option from Delhi to Shillong by air, which will take approximately three and a half hours, as compared to a strenuous 42 hours by rail. Other airline companies operating on the Delhi-Shillong route take between 8 to 10 hours to commute between Delhi and Shillong, with more than one stoppage. Further, with the addition of Shillong to the aviation operations map of flybig, the airline will be operating in 8 states across 12 cities with a total capacity of 156 seats capacity per week.
The schedule for the twice-weekly flybig Flight Service between Delhi (Del) and Shillong (SHL), which will begin on May 2nd, 2022, is as follows:
DEL – SHL Departure from Delhi at 12:55 hrs and Arrival at Shillong at 16:20 hrs
SHL-DEL Departure from Shillong at 9:20 hrs and Arrival at Delhi at 12:25 hrs
